Dave Anderson- Lead Coach 9 & Older
Dave is excited to be a part of the Fairview Swim Team this summer. He is currently the lead coach for the Cavalier Blue and Wahoo Blue groups at Cav Aquatics, and previously with 757 Swim in Williamsburg, VA. Dave has experience leading or assistant coaching year round swimmers in every age group. Dave spent his last two summers as the Head Coach of the First Colony Flyers, in Williamsburg: winning the VPSU Championship two years in a row.
Growing up, Dave swam for Williamsburg Aquatic Club and Lafayette High School, where he earned All-State honors as well as the team winning the state championship his senior year. He attended Hampden-Sydney College where he broke 2 individual records and 3 relay records. After his freshman year, Dave retired from swimming to focus on tennis. At Hampden-Sydney, he played in the #1 doubles spot and the #3 singles spot.
Dave enjoys working with swimmers of all ages and brings a tremendous amount of energy and enthusiasm to Fairview in 2023. His coaching philosophy is to make swimmers enjoy swimming and enjoy competition.
Alissa Hansen- Lead Coach 8 & Younger and Mini-Seahorses, Lead JSL Coach
Alissa is returning to the Fairview coaching team for her 2nd season. She started her swimming career on her summer swim team in Northern VA and continued to swim competitively through high school. She attended the University of Virginia and was a member of the Women’s Rowing team and graduated with a Masters in Teaching. While attending UVA, Alissa coached in the NVSL for one season and the JSL for four seasons. She then taught special education in Charlottesville City before taking a break from teaching to be a full-time parent.
Currently, Alissa is a mom of 3 and a teacher at the Charlottesville Waldorf School. She is excited to bring her knowledge and experience of swimming, teaching, and coaching back to the FV team. With humor and enthusiasm, Alissa loves building skills, camaraderie, and excitement for swimming not only with the team’s youngest swimmers, but with the junior and assistant coaching staff as well.
Heyward Boyce- Senior Assistant Lead Coach
Heyward Boyce is a former high school swimmer from Lake Forest, IL, where he was coached by Olympian Lea Mauer. He has 9 years of camp counselor experience, including swim instruction, and looks forward to starting some new traditions. His motto: ‘have fun, swim fast. “
Heyward moved to Charlottesville in February 2023 to be with his girlfriend who is a pediatric nurse at UVA. He brings energy, enthusiasm and a love of fitness to Fairview this summer.

Lauren Britt- Assistant Coach
Lauren Britt is a rising Junior at Western Albemarle High School where she swims for the 2023 Runner-Up Virginia High School Championship, Class 4 Division, Women’s Swim team. Lauren has been a Fairview and Year-Round swimmer since the age of 8 and is an expert in all four strokes.
Lauren is excited to help create the fun and excitement of a competitive summer season this summer. She is eager to help coach the younger swimmers and give them some tips about her favorite stroke: Butterfly.

Owen Cullaty- Assistant Coach
Coach Owen grew up swimming at Fairview and was a volunteer coach last summer. He swims year-round for Cavalier Aquatics. Owen is a rising sophomore at The Covenant School where he has swum for his high school team since eighth grade. This year, the Men’s Covenant School Swim Team won the VISL Division II championship.
Owen has been an all-conference swimmer in both 8th and 9th grades, a finalist at the 2023 VISAA state high school swim meet in the 200 IM, and a finalist at the NCSA national meet in the 200 fly and 100 fly last year. Owen also plays lacrosse for his high school team. When he’s not in school or at practice, he likes to listen to music.
Taylor Starr- Assistant Coach
Taylor Starr is completing his Freshman Year at The Covenant School where he swims for Coach Cosmo DiFazio on the 2023 VISAA Division II Champion Men’s Swimming Team. Taylor joined the Fairview Club in 2022 and is eager to return and help teach Fairview younger swimmers more about competitive swimming, of course while having fun, during the summer swim season.
Taylor emphasizes the importance of the individual and team aspects of swimming, Fairview team spirit, and the health and fitness benefits of swimming for swimmers of all ages and abilities.

Sophie Wayner- Assistant Coach
Sophie Wayner is an eager new coach, and a rising sophomore at The Covenant School. She swims year-round with Cav Aquatics and this summer 2023 will be her second season helping Fairview swimmers, after a volunteering last summer as a Junior Coach.
She has been swimming at Fairview since age 8, and loves competing in meets. She is so excited to coach this season!
