Alissa Hansen – Head Coach
Alissa is returning to the Fairview coaching team for her 3rd season as Head Coach. She began her swimming journey in Northern Virginia, where she was a summer league swimmer, consistently placing in the top 6 at NVSL All Stars in breaststroke and contributing to record-breaking relays. Her competitive swimming continued through Langley High School, where she helped lead the girls team to AAA district, regional, and state championships all four years.
Alissa attended the University of Virginia on a Women’s Rowing scholarship, where her Novice 8 boat won ACC gold and she contributed to five consecutive ACC Championships. She graduated with a Masters in Teaching and Bachelors in Sociology. During her time at UVA, Alissa began her coaching career in the JSL summer swim league for four seasons.
Currently, Alissa is a mom of three, an assistant coach on Cavalier Aquatics, a group fitness instructor, and a substitute teacher. Her passion for swimming and coaching was inspired by the great mentors she had as a student-athlete. With humor and enthusiasm, Alissa loves building skills, camaraderie, and excitement for swimming with swimmers of all ages, including the junior and assistant coaching staff.
Dave Anderson, Guest Coach
Dave is excited to guest coach for the Fairview Swim Team this summer. He is currently the lead coach for the Cavalier Blue and Wahoo Blue groups at Cav Aquatics, and previously with 757 Swim in Williamsburg, VA. Dave has experience leading or assistant coaching year round swimmers in every age group. Dave spent his last two summers as the Head Coach of the First Colony Flyers, in Williamsburg: winning the VPSU Championship two years in a row.
Growing up, Dave swam for Williamsburg Aquatic Club and Lafayette High School, where he earned All-State honors as well as the team winning the state championship his senior year. He attended Hampden-Sydney College where he broke 2 individual records and 3 relay records. After his freshman year, Dave retired from swimming to focus on tennis. At Hampden-Sydney, he played in the #1 doubles spot and the #3 singles spot.
Dave enjoys working with swimmers of all ages and brings a tremendous amount of energy and enthusiasm to Fairview. His coaching philosophy is to make swimmers enjoy swimming and enjoy competition…..while wearing a mustache!
